Michael Wacks is a Professional Engineer with more than 30 years of experience providing process engineering, design, and project management services to the pharmaceutical and specialty chemical industries. Through Proviscon LLC, he provides practical, senior-level engineering support to pharmaceutical manufacturers, facility owners, and A/E firms on capital projects ranging from focused facility improvements to new R&D and manufacturing facilities.
Michael’s expertise includes process design and development of engineering documentation, including User Requirements Specifications, process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), equipment specifications, and equipment layouts. He has extensive experience with GMP and sterile manufacturing environments and understands the technical, regulatory, and operational requirements involved in designing facilities for pharmaceutical production and research.
Throughout his career, Michael has worked directly with facility owners, A/E firms, EPCM organizations, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams. His experience spans the full project lifecycle—from defining user requirements and developing conceptual designs through detailed engineering, construction support, commissioning, and project close-out. He brings particular value to projects that require experienced process engineering judgment, coordination among disciplines, and a practical understanding of how facilities are actually designed and built.
Before establishing Proviscon, Michael held engineering and project management positions with major pharmaceutical companies and leading A/E firms, including Merck, Kenvue, Integrated Project Services, and PS&S. He also served as Principal of Process Vision Consultants, an engineering consulting firm specializing in process design for the pharmaceutical and specialty chemical industries.
Michael holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Chemical Engineering from The Cooper Union, where he attended on a four-year full scholarship, and a Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in New Jersey and Massachusetts.
